The high level .CO domain name has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) with full commercial activity in China.
This allows Chinese individuals and businesses to own the .CO domain name, which can operate and manage the website from Chinese servers.
“Barriers to the use of .CO domain names from China have been broken. .CO domains have been officially accepted in China along with national .CN domain names and some other popular international domain names such as .COM and .BIZ” – Crystal Peterson, director of .CO’s Internet Sales and Marketing said.
The .CO domain was launched in 2010, and is now available in China. This is the largest and most difficult market in the world.
According to Chinese policy, managed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, high-level domain managers must set up branches here and agree to the “Draconian” content censorship policy.
Other high level domain names that have not been approved by this agency will not be able to resolve the domain name, which is not accessible, in accordance with the policy.
