.COM and .COM domains have high renewal rates, Verisign reported sales of $306 million

Verisign’s recent business results show that .COM and .NET domains have a high renewal rate of up to 75%.

Verisign ended the third quarter of 2018 with 151.7 million .COM and. NET domains on the management system, up 4% over the same period in 2017, corresponding to an increase of 1.99 million domains. In the third quarter alone, Verisign noted that 9.5 million .COM and .NET domains were registered. This figure is only 8.9 million in the third quarter of 2017.

In particular, Q3 also recorded 75% of .COM and .NET domains renewal rates. A slight increase over Q2 2017 (74%).

.COM and .NET are still two of the most widely used extensions on the Internet. Although there are currently not too many promotions for new registrations, transfers or extensions, the need to use them is still very high.

In addition to .COM and .NET domains, Verisign’s other business activities are also flourishing. As follows:

  • Total revenue reached $306 million, up 4.6% over the same period in 2017.
  • Quarterly earnings, net profit was $138 million, up $23 million compared with Q3/2017.
  • Earnings per share were $1.13, up 21.5% over the same period last year.
  • Total US $1.18 billion worth of cash, cash equivalents and other highly liquid short-term securities, down $1.24 billion from the end of 2017.
  • Operating cash flow was $ 87 million, up $12 million from Q3/2017.
