Hawk Host has just announced that they officially support the latest PHP 8.0 on Hosting services.
Right now, all customers using shared, reseller, semi-dedicated and cloud web hosting services can activate PHP 8.0 right in cPanel.
PHP 8.0 is a major update to the PHP language. It contains many new features and optimizations including the JIT compiler, named arguments, union types, attributes, constructor property promotion, match expression, null safe operator, and improvements in system type, error handling, and consistency.
PHP 8.0 as well as previous versions have better performance, but not all applications can work smoothly without causing errors. Therefore, before using PHP 8.0 you should pay attention to the following points:
- You should only use PHP 8.0 with WordPress 5.6 or higher. If you are using a lower version of WordPress, upgrade WordPress to at least version 5.6 and check for errors before upgrading to PHP 8.0.
- Not all plugins and themes support PHP 8.0. Most errors arise when upgrading PHP because the plugin or theme code is too old to be compatible.
- If your website uses ionCube Loader, do not upgrade to PHP 8.0 because there is currently no extension compatible with this version.
To upgrade PHP 8.0 you just need to login to cPanel, select Select PHP Version is done. You can choose to add extensions if the website needs to use them.
