Linode operates its own backbone cable

After nearly a year of hard work, Linode’s network engineers have built and operated backbone cable.

Linode has worked with many suppliers to select the shortest route possible, thereby giving customers the lowest latency between locations.

This cable is now directly connecting the Linode datacenters in the US to Europe, thereby reducing the RTT latency by more than 15 ms with the longest Fremont DC to Frankfurt DC.

In the coming time, Linode will begin deploying cable line in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore and Tokyo-2. The path of the cable line is represented by a dashed line in the image above.
